Knoll, like Herman Miller, is an iconic post-war modern US based design and manufacturing company.  With products designed by Florence Knoll herself, Eero Saarinen, Marcel Breuer, Warren Platner, and Harry Bertoia, Knoll established a firm hold as a timeless classic in Modern American Design.

Knoll is a furniture company that was founded by Hans Knoll in 1938.

Hans Knoll had a passion for modern art and furniture design. His vision was to merge the two together in order to create functional, affordable, and elegant furniture. In 1952, he opened his first showroom in Manhattan which showcased midcentury modern furniture.

Knoll’s first foray into furniture design was working with a variety of materials, including fiberglass, steel, aluminum, plastic and wood veneer. The company also tried to create a new type of seating called the “knoll bench” in 1952 using cast aluminum instead of wood. However, it proved too heavy for public spaces. Knoll went on to create many iconic chairs for Knoll such as the Barcelona Chair (1957), the Executive Office Group

Pretty much, Knoll is an American bad ass in modern furniture design and iconic in design stature.
