Fashion blogger Josephine Ellen has taken her personal fashion journey and shared it with the world. As a personal goal, Josephine decided to challenge herself to incorporate more writing and photography to her life. This is when she began documenting her daily fashion choices. “In the beginning, I started out purely documenting what I wore and offering insight behind my fashion choices and making the most out of an existing wardrobe when you don’t have a vast budget to work with. But as I started challenging myself more creatively and incorporating more photography and writing into my daily life, I expanded the usual “OOTD” content so that each post is curated and offers a story-telling angle., a strategy that not only means more to me as a content creator but also differentiates me (at least, I hope so!) from this saturated niche of fashion blogging,” Josephine says.
Start
Fashion was something that Josephine was always interested in. From an early age she began detailing her outfit choices, arts and thoughts. “It was always something I was really passionate about. Up until the beginning of high school, however, I couldn’t really enjoy the freedom of expression myself through fashion mainly because I was still living with my parents, but once I moved out of my hometown and started earning some pocket money, I started experimenting and finding my personal style. Fast forward a few years, and here I am,” Josephine explains.
While Josephine was always into the documentation side, it wasn’t until about two years ago that she began blogging. “I was following numerous fashion blogs when one day, I suddenly asked “Why don’t I do this myself?” Creating things has always been a huge part of my life, and it just seemed so natural for me to get my hands “dirty” and start using a blog and social media to push the boundaries of my creativity and share it with the world in hopes that it will inspire someone out there the way so much art has inspired me,” Josephine declares. In return, her choice panned out to be pretty successful!
Style
Josephine’s style is a unique combination of urban chic, with elements inspired by Brooklyn and European streets. She also focuses a lot on making the best even with a small budget. While her personal look is very appealing, Josephine doesn’t shy away from finding inspirations from others. “Instagram is my go-to platform for finding inspiration and connecting with like-minded people with amazing fashion sense and creativity in building their wardrobe! It’s amazing what you can come up with when you channel the energy from those you admire,” Josephine says.
Brand
Josephine is currently in the process of expanding her brand, however she doesn’t set any limits for herself. “In the next five years, I can’t say for sure what direction my brand will be heading in because I’m always evolving. My dreams are constantly expanding, but the bottom line is that I want to be able to say that in 5 years, I’m living the life that I want, not one I settled for. This same concept goes for my personal brand,” Josephine says.
With this mindset, Josephine is setting herself up for many new opportunities. “There’s always so many new things to learn and new experiences to pursue, and I don’t want to end up feeling like I’m a one-dimensional person. Recently, I’ve been really trying to work on photography and learn more than just the basics, and I’d love to find more time to incorporate travel photography and portrait photography into my portfolio…as well as keeping up with my love for fashion and writing, of course!
I would love to keep on evoking inspiration for whoever stumbles upon my content. If brands love the unique way I craft stories out of the seemingly ordinary, I would love the chance to branch out and do more branded content collaborations. It’s all about empowering, inspiring, and collaborating,” Josephine explains.
Rewards
With many new opportunities floating in the future, Josephine doesn’t undermine the many accomplishments she has already come across. She finds that the current success she has reached has been very rewarding. “It’s rewarding to meet like-minded people through Instagram and blogging and really getting to know them virtually (I’ve even had the pleasure of meeting a few of them in-person!) as well as discovering amazing talent and inspiration through those channels. I love that both groups, in their own way, push me to delve deeper in testing out my creative boundaries! Secondly, it’s been extremely rewarding and humbling when I receive messages from strangers telling me how much I’ve inspired them to see/try things differently – whether it be about fashion or life – through my writings, style and/or photography,” Josephine says.

Textbooks for grad school, unfortunately…. But also Vogue, and all of the Ben Hope books by Scott Mariani. Give that a whirl – it’s like James Bond meets Jason Bourne.
What fashion accessory is your favorite?
At the moment, waist belts! They do wonders in adding a certain nuance to any outfit as well as accentuating the waistline!
